Review: Jimmy Choo Illicit flower EDT

20160626_122100

This is by far the most feminine fragrance Jimmy Choo has released. This fragrance is definitely a mix of chic, bold and beautiful. Pretty much the Jimmy Choo woman in a bottle. The bottle is the same as its older sister but doesn’t smell anything like it. Jimmy Choo Illicit is sweet and Jimmy Choo illicit is just floral.

20160626_122312

As far as I can think this is the first EDT to be released but don’t be fooled the lasting power is amazing.

Note wise we have:

Top: Apricot, Mandarin and Freesia

Heart: Rose, Grapefruit Flower and Jasmine

Bottom: Musk, Sandalwood and Cashmeran

It has 2 of my favourites notes rose and musk and it is pink so what is not to love about this scent. I would say this is a fruity woody floral fragrance.

20160626_12232820160626_122344

When I sniff it I get rose, sandalwood and grapefruit. It smells to me like a fruity version of Issey Miyake L’eau D’issey florale.

You can find this at Clicks, Dis-Chem, Edgars, Foschini, Red Square, Stuttafords & Truworths from the 15th September 2016 (Right in the middle of spring. Such a perfect spring scent.) For 40ml at R645 , 60ml at R945 and 100ml at R1095.

Mont Blanc legend pour femme her and Mont Blanc legend for him

The Montblanc Pour Femme Eau de Parfum

mont

The Montblanc Pour Femme Eau de Parfum is a sublime and timeless expression of elegance. Created with the values of luxury and precision that have driven the brand for a hundred years, Montblanc Legend Pour Femme dazzles with brilliance. Legend is a symbol of exclusivity, renowned for its beauty and air of exclusivity. Crafted from sensual and bright flora, Legend is a perfume of sheer pleasure. A sharp and slightly bitter top orange of orange and pear asserts elegant optimism, before a warm, floral bouquet of orange blossom and sensuous jasmine lends a lavish touch. In the dry down, muskiness reigns, with creamy vanilla and musk to anchor the silky femininity.

Top Notes: Neroli, Pear, Bitter Orange

Heart Notes: Orange Blossom, Lily of the Valley, Indian Jasmine

Base Notes: Musk Powder, Vanilla, Blonde Wood

What kind of women has inspired Mont Blanc? These are the memorable women of classic elegance and natural grace, such as Grace Kelly( My icon), Ingrid Bergman, Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich. The new fragrance, vivid and intense, is a luxury special for an extraordinary lady – the kind that leaves a strong impression without much makeup on, without a special hair do or striking accessories, relying only on her charisma and confidence.

The composition opens with fresh accords of neroli, bitter orange and pear. The heart is ruled by white flowers: jasmine (from India, known as grandiflorum), lily of the valley (white and green) and orange blossom, while musk, vanilla and fine woods lurk in the background and give the composition powdery character.

The elongated design of the bottle is made of curves and angles inspired by the jewelry collection 4810. I particularly love the design of the bottle it looks like a 6 petal flower that resembles the mont blanc logo.

Mont Blanc Legend EDT

montmen

And then we have one for the men also released with the same name minus the “pour femme”

Legend is dedicated to inspiring, virtuous and self-confident men who are courageous, passionate and authentic. Their fragrance is subtle but striking and masculine.

Olivier Pescheux, the perfumer behind this fresh fougere creation, tried to make the fragrance filled with contrasts, combining notes that evoke strength and tenderness, tradition and modernity. The composition opens with fresh aromatic tones of bergamot, lavender, pineapple leaf and exotic verbena (Litsea Cubeba). The heart emphasizes oakmoss note (evernyl molecule) merged with geranium, coumarin, apple, rose, and Pomarosa molecule (notes of dried fruit). The base contains sandalwood, tonka and evernyl.

Heavy and slightly curved bottle of black and metallic colors is inspired by the famous Meisterstück pen design, made of glass and metal. The design is minimalistic and luxurious, perfect for the concept behind this fragrance. The black and white campaign features Simon Clark photographed by Peter Lindbergh.

I would say the top notes are fresh and bright with a hint of apple and cedar, A clean scent really but not soapy in the slightest. As the heart notes emerge, they become more flowery but quickly turned woodsy and much more masculine. Which makes sense considering this cologne is classified as predominantly fougère  or ‘fern-like’. It has a basic accord (works well with) lavender (which is probably what I interpreted as ‘flowery’) in the top note and oakmoss and coumarin in the base notes and has a small hint of spice as well. The base notes are dry and “leathery” as one person in my office put it, or “smells like a man” as another said. It is definitely a very masculine scent. Some have compared it to Abercrombie & Fitch’s Fierce but calling it more ‘mature’. Although it is recommended for casual wear, I think that it is a little too ‘sexy’ for the office or classroom.
