“Every time I slip on my Jimmy Choo heels or pick up my Jimmy Choo handbag, I feel like a different person. When I was asked to work on Jimmy Choo Blossom, I immediately imagined a joyful fragrance that lifts your spirits, gives you great confidence and makes you feel beautiful and alluring. I tried to find the right balance between happy, uplifting and luxurious citrus and red fruits and very feminine ingredients such as beautiful addictive florals, sandalwood and a deeply sensual musk. I wanted to produce the sensation of an endless shower of petals that swirl around you forever.”
Louise Turner, Perfumer
Described as – It is perfect for bold & bright young party girls. It this elements of sparkles and vivacious imagine the sip of a first cocktail, the clinking of glasses with the girls, the sexy soundtrack on the dance floor. The box speaks for it self, sparkling glitter pink box that wows my heart instantly. The bottle itself looks with fuschia ombré emphasizes the multi-faceted glass with a diamond cap. Looks like the flash range bottles. Jimmy choo really know how to make beautiful bottles just like their shoes. Probably the most beautiful in my book since it’s pink and I love all thing pink and glittery.
Top Notes:Sweet Pea, Rose
Heart Notes:Berries, Citrus
Base Notes:White Musk, Sandalwood
If you look at the notes per level you’ll notice they didn’t use many notes as a standard fragrance will usually consist of at least 3 but this makes the fragrance more pure as there is not too much going on.It smells sort of sweet and sour at the same time with a hint of flowers.
Initially as the name suggested I expected more of a floral scent but it is actually a fruity floral and because the florals are up top the fruit is actually more prominent. It’s a modern, feminine and delicate scent. This is a slightly sweet, girly and fruity fragrance that pairs great with hot weather. It is more light and sweeter compared to all the other Jimmy Choos which I find slightly overpowering and heavy. Jimmy Choo blossom is a perfect spring-summer fragrance. Lasting power is amazing it will last you the entire day.
91 Million daily players with 76 million Facebook Fans…. That’s a whole lot of sweetness going on.
I don’t know about you but I am totally addicted to this game. You get a lovely surprise when you open the carton it will tell you its name….. Swwweet
A blend of candied fruit and sweet orange blossom gives way to the warm feminine floral heart of this fun yet luxurious perfume experience. Full of personality, the Sweet! Eau de Parfum opens with a sparkly and spontaneous fruity burst of toffee apple and juicy plum evolving into a shimmering vibrant floral bouquet of intense sugared rose petals. Finally, the fragrance culminates in soft, warm Vanilla base notes which wrap all the sweet notes together creating a modern fragrance with an elegant fruity-floral composition.
Fruity (Apple, Orange Blossom and Plum).
Floral (Rose, Lily and Muguet).
Vanilla (Vanilla, Sandalwood and Teak).
I really love how they didn’t just make the scent smell sweet like candy like I would have expected which makes it a very practical scent to wear. It’s quite light and fresh smelling and more floral than fruity smelling. I haven’t seen many scents that contain apple note besides the DKNY range so it’s very refreshing to see they aren’t going the traditional fruity route. The flacon of the new perfume Sweet! Is made of glass, with fun details and a matte golden cap. It is decorated with a pendant shaped like a plate with name Candy Crush. The fragrance is available as 75 ml EDP. Exclusive to Foschini Stores Nationwide, retails for R595.
This was released in 1978 and is the first fragrance from him. And as you know Oscar is a famous fashion designed who passed away last year but the brand still lives on. And it is arriving in SA only now though. This fragrance, to me, is like all the good parts of women’s fragrance put together to form a very classic fragrance.
Bottle wise: Sharp green and a bit powdery. I get a lot of the herbs in the bottle with a faint trace of florals in the back.
How it smells: This fragrance actually smells a lot like Chanel no. 5 it has the same musky and powderiness to it. Really strong and last the entire day. A bit of a strange mix but not at all unpleasant with the rosemary and sandal wood being the most dominant note. It’s interesting and definitely smells like a classic fragrance. As Oscar settles down the perfume heads into more floral territory with a smattering of herbs and green rosemary while still retaining that classic powder scent. The fragrance uses florals in a sheer way with a hit of spicy carnation to give those flowers a bit more sway. The dry down is probably my favorite part that sees Oscar head into this warm amber and spicy powder finish with a dash of full-bodied patchouli. I know a lot of younger people who will be turned off by the powderiness of this and I will warn everyone that this does smell very much like a classic. But if you’re looking to smell sophisticated, this is good stuff.
Bottle Design: Oscar’s eau de toilette bottle is a tall glass with a black cap. The shape of the bottle is a bit interesting and sets it out from other perfumes by not being a big tall rectangle. Haven’t actually seen a fragrance bottle that looks like this it really stands out on a shelf. The design is simple yet elegant just like his designs.
Fragrance Family: floral aromatic
Notes: Orange blossom, basil, coriander, galbanum, peach, gardenia, ylang-ylang, jasmine, tuberose, rose, rosemary, cyclamen, lavender, orchid, opoponax, carnation, patchouli, sandalwood, vetiver, amber. The strange thing about this scent it doesn’t change much from the moment you spray it and I found it quite tough to put my finger on the 3 levels of the scent but i’m loving that notes list and marvel at how well the notes actually work in this fragrance.
Lips are the focal point of you face and we use them for so many things so we always want them to look polished and in prim condition. And let’s face it is rather embarrassing to have scaly bleeding lips (way to kill the mood right?!) I’ve suffered from dry lips all my childhood but since I’ve started blogging I’ve learnt many things to keep it at bay. Let me emphasise that there is no instant solution to cracked/dry lips this takes constant maintenance so no magic cure product here unfortunately. Dry lips can be very annoying especially during winter. Here’s a list of beauty tips for dry lips that will help you sail through any time of the year with beautiful and moisturized lips. You may think of chapped lips as something that only happens in the winter. But the truth is, unless you take special care, your lips can get dry, sore, and scaly any time of year. If you do these things, you could be your own worst enemy when it comes to healthy lips. You Go Commando Your lips don’t have oil glands, and they’re almost always exposed to the elements. So if you don’t take care of them, you’ll pay the price. What can you do to keep them safe?
Lip balms – a must for dry lips: Lips balms act as a protection from the sun. A thin coat is good enough to keep it greasy and it also helps lips from getting chapped. Use the right lip Balm Peppermint enriched lip balms soothe the chapped lips. A good balm can buffer your delicate lip skin from the elements. Choose one high in emollients. Check the ingredient list for petrolatum, which locks in moisture, and dimethicone which seals off cracks and splits in drying lips. Apply early and often. Whatever type of product you choose, apply it before you put on lipstick or lip gloss, not after. To keep your lips protected, reapply frequently, apply first thing in the morning, last thing at night your cleanser may actually be drying out your lips —both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide disrupt your pH balance and can cause chipping and every couple of hours during the day. To make this easier, stash a tube in your purse, one in the car, a third your desk, and another near the bed. I recommend the Original Lip-Ice has been here since the beginning since 1965 to be exact; it is the original source of lip care and has been looking after South African lips since before you can remember. Comes in a variety of flavours(cherry, spearmint, musk, bubble gum, peach-apricot, orange, cocoa butter and original) and are really affordable(R19,95). It’s back to basics and simple and using these again has just reminded me how much I love them especially the cherry variant. It is nice and thick so it forms a good protective moisture barrier.
Protect your lips when you’re outside choose a lip balm with sun protection year-round.
Drink up.Not enough water factors inside and outside your body can dry out your lips. You know it has tons of benefits for your body. One of those is to fight the dehydration that leads to chapped lips. On one hand we spoke of moisture being lost from your lips, now let’s talk about how you can regain it. The obvious answer is to drink lots of water to keep the level of moisture balanced. It also helps to clean up your system for an overall healthy body. Hydrating from the inside will help keep your lips from getting dry.
Use a humidifier indoors. These devices provide the moisture your lips and skin crave. It’s great to have one at work as well as at home, especially in the winter. Turn it on at night to replenish your skin while you sleep.
Don’t lick your lips. While it might seem like a good idea at the time, running your tongue over your lips is the worst thing you can do for them. As your saliva dries, it takes more moisture from your skin. Reach for your lip balm instead. Licking your lips when they are dry is a common habit that all of us have. But it is not a good idea if you’re looking to treat dry lips. It is a vicious circle, you lick, it dries and you lick again. Biting doesn’t help either (yes I am talking to you Anastasia from fifty shades of grey). It makes the lips dry and sometimes bleed too. Don’t lick your lips. We lick our dry lips to add some moisture, but it actually dries them out even more. Your saliva contains acids that break down food, but they also irritate your lips. Plus, continuously licking will remove any natural oils you have on your lips.
Avoid irritants that get in touch with your Lips. Ingredients in toothpastes for example are proven to cause irritation on dry lips. Obviously you can’t stop brushing your teeth but just be extra cautious not to let it linger on your lips for too long
Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate Yes, don’t look so shocked but you do have lip scrubs to exfoliate your lips. It is obviously to help you get rid of the dead skin and make your lips soft and supple, ready to be kissed! Use a lip exfoliator or make an at-home paste with sugar and honey. For very sensitive lips, use a clean, soft toothbrush and brush it back and forth.
For chapped and sore lips, slice up a cucumber into thin pieces and leave them over lips for five minutes (try it while you’re watching TV). It helps rehydrates your lips, and feels fantastic.
Stick to lipsticks with conditioners like vitamin E, macadamia oil, and sheabutter. Take a pass on matte lip colours in favour of moisturizing lipsticks. If you must go matte (hey, it’s a hot trend this season!), apply a lip conditioner before.
If your lips are chapped, take a passon drinking orange juice, eating grapefruit, and putting any other citrus fruits near your lips—they can cause more dryness.
Say goodbye to those hot wings for a while, because yes, spicy foods can dry out your lips.
Suffering from really bad chapping? Look for a treatment with ceramides, which help to restore the skin barrier.
A while a got spoilt with a box of newness from Avon/Justine and I’ve had chance to sort through all of my faves.
Avon ultra colour lip tint pens(R169.90)
Was so excited to see these I literally slapped these on the moment I saw them. I have a deep obsession with lippies just say an easy way to make a statement and pick up any look. These do not disappoint at all! Love love love! I received 2 colours freesia (a berry pink) and raspberry(a cherry red). Packaging wise as always these look expensive and sleek the cap clicks shut tight so the product won’t dry out or the cap won’t fall off in your bag. The felt tip makes it really easy to quickly and precisely apply the product. When I apply it the pen doesn’t leak or feel overly wet (if that makes sense) application is actually really smooth and I don’t even really feel anything. Very light weight I hardly even remembered I had anything on my lips and extremely pigmented. The colour does last the entire day just fades a bit and transfers once applied but once the top layer has transferred the colour afterwards stays put. It’s not drying nor overly hydrating and the colour does appear matte due to it’s nature. It does require exfoliation and a slick of lip balm underneath like with any lip stain otherwise it will emphasise dry patches. I’ve been using these daily for a few weeks now and they haven’t dried out one bit. Definitely recommend this for anybody who loves colour but hates reapplication and worries about transfers.
Avon ideal flawless cream concealer(R119.90)
My second love as you know is concealer hides any imperfections without the need to wear a full face of foundation. Packaging wise this really reminds me of the bobbi brown concealers without the mirror which is not really an issue. As usual the compacts snap shut tight and is very small and light weight. Initially when you pick up some of the product you notice it is very sheer but don’t let that deceive you coverage on this is amazing. It is extremely creamy and actually silky it doesn’t dry out the skin at all even though it sets to a powder finish. I tried it over a pimple and under the eyes and it really conceals well in both cases. Lasting power is pretty impressive too and mine lasted for the whole day.
Avon ColorTrend boost it! Mascara(R69.90)
A lot of people really love this mascara this however is not suitable for me specifically as I prefer lengthening mascaras as opposed to volumizing ones since I lack in that department. I do however think it is a great mascara for someone who has the length but just looking for some volume. This hot pink tube clicks airtight shut. The formula is not overly wet which gives it a good amount of control whilst applying but it also doesn’t dry down to a crumbly mess. Dries and sets really fast because the formula is not so wet so you don’t have to worry about a major mess if you accidently blink I actually prefer drier formulas for this reason and even find that I only once a mascara has dried a bit can I actually fall in love with them. It holds a curl well and is easy to remove. My eyes didn’t feel irritated afterwards. The thickness of the formula again works great for volume boosting mascaras as it nicely wraps and coats the lashes also lashes look defined and I didn’t notice any clumping. It is a true black colour and the tiny brush makes it easy to reach even the smallest lash with less fuss. There is a bit of fallout and transfer under the eyes by the end of the day but not major panda eyes.
Justine body balance even tone body butter(R105)
A must have for winter skin this body butter smells like a green floral. Contains a blend of my beloved miracle argan oil, shea butter and grape seed oil. Very hydrating and thick so it creates a nice moisture barrier. It specifically meant to target uneven skin tone.
Justine luminescence even tone day cream SPF 15 (R410)
This comes in a gorgeous pink glass pump tube. It is very hydrating and lightweight making a great base for makeup application. The magic ingredients here are mulberry, grape fruit extract, argan, grape seed, sunflower seed, neem seed, rice bran, skullcap, wheat germ and saxifrage sarmentosa extract basically all the things you could put into a cream combined. Specifically meant to even out blemishes and increase skin firmness within 7 days.
Avon fan nail brush (R49.95)
The concept is a quick striped nail effect which works pretty well and is really quick and easy to do.

Ok so let’s get down to business then how to enter:
Rules are simple follow compulsory steps, competition closes 30 June 2015 and it is open internationally.
Compulsory steps (these will be checked thoroughly so please ensure you follow them I’ve had people in the past which I’ve had to eliminate because they didn’t follow the rules L
I still remember the days when Sorbet was just a salon this place is still my favorite to get facials, nails or massages done at pretty reasonable prices and they’ve pretty much been growing by the day with products being sold at Clicks and salons opening at many malls. They were kind enough to offer us a power hour mani voucher to get pampered before the event I opted for a gelish colour called “june bride” and am really happy with the lasting power, the staff are always well educated and friendly.
Last week I attended a launch with a difference the folks from Sorbet and Clicks treated us to a #SorbetSkinShow which showcased the collection on the runway. They spent many years developing the products so a lot of love and care went into them.
This collection of skincare is split into 3 ranges and instead of opting for the traditional skin types categories (i.e. Dry, normal, oily and combination) they opted to address skin concerns instead which is ideal for me since my category is somewhat mixed I have oily yet dehydrated skin which means I sit in between oily ranges make my skin peel yet dry skin ranges make my skin too greasy (It’s a nightmare to find skincare that works for me. Trust me!). Packaging wise the products look quite sturdy and classy in glass like plastic also the tubs come with spatulas to prevent germs from spreading.
The ranges are:
The “blues” developed specifically for tired and dehydrated skin that needs a boost. Designed for people in their 20s. The 4 products in this range are designed to restore a bright and healthier looking complexion by incorporating moisture back into the skincare regimen. The magic ingredients in this are hyaluronic acid, shea butter, omega 3 & 6 and vitamin A & E. I was given the day and night cream (R149.95 each) to play with and once applied it really feels like I’ve just splashed water on my face. The scent smells like a green floral. The day cream only contains an SPF 15 which is a bit low so I would top up with a higher sunscreen afterwards.
Salon Skin Specialist care
The “purples” developed specifically for problematic skin concerns (like break outs, blemishes and uneven skin tone) and curb irritated skin. Mixing a bit of science and nature together has resulted in the 8 products in this range which are designed to stop problem skin in its tracks. This is my fave range as they are products that will give you the salon feel. I was given the daily skin polish powder (R220) this one is a cheaper version of the Dermalogica daily microfoliant I compared the ingredients and they are identical even the feel and scent is the same, this comes in a powder form so you mix it with water to form a paste but I prefer to mix it in with my cleanser. It’s not too abrasive or grainy but does the job like a gentle exfoliator as it is branded as a micro-exfolitor which instantly brightens the skin. The magic ingredients being salicylic acid, papin, rice powder, lavender, grapefruit, tea tree oil and vitamins A, C&E. They also have a 3 in 1 cleansing oil which is a dead ringer for the Dermalogica precleanse at a snip of the price(R129.95), vitamin rescue masque and facial tissue oil(R220)
The “pinks” developed specifically for mature skin (over 35s) that the signs of ageing skin are a concern. The 6 products in this range are an intense anti-ageing solution for a more plump youthful appearance with reduced appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The magic ingredients are Q10, Matrixyl synthe’6 and vitamins A, C and E. I was given the day cream (R169.95) which smells like fruit cocktail very hydrating and not too thick so easily and quickly absorbed. I also received the lip and eye repair serum (R154.95) most eye creams can be used as lip balms (if you were wondering) due to the hydrating properties. I used it as an eye cream and I find it very hydrating and absorbs really quickly.
All of these items are available at Clicks and Sorbet stores nationwide. Definitely stop by and take a browse.
The may box was dedicated to hair. This box was absolutely amazing definitely in my top 3 boxes I’ve received. A good hair month this was indeed.
1.African extract rooibos hand & nail cream SPF 15-10ml (R29.99-50ml)
One of my top hand creams it light on the pocket, smells amazing, is a natural product packed with anti ageing properties like retinol and SPF, absorbed really quickly into the skin and leaves my hands feeling soft and pampered. I was introduced to this hand cream a while back in a past rubybox and I definitely always come back to this one. Popped this into my handbag as soon I opened the box very nice handy travel size.
2. John Frieda full repair oil elixir-full size (R110-100ml)
Was most excited to see this massive bottle in the box as there is a growing trend with hair oils lately. It complements greatly with the massive box of john frieda I was spoilt with a few months ago their products never disappoint. Firstly it smells absolutely amazing. I used 2 pumps as my hair is quite long after washing and followed by blow dying to help the product seep in better and my hair definitely felt smoother and looked more hydrated. You might find the idea of putting oil in your hair a strange concept but it is so light weight I didn’t even notice it was there and even if the scent bothers you I barely noticed the scent after applying it. I also like to apply this after I have curled my hair to give it more shine and over just washed hair to tame fly aways and frizz.
Perfect for the cold winter that has come upon us as skin tends to dry up and get red and itchy and I know it’s horrible to bath in hot water but it’s a bad habit that keeps me warm and relaxes me but horrible for the skin. This is why Nivea invented an absolute god send. Saves so much time as sometimes I skip moisturiser and later feel the side effects and still end up running to my body lotion. You just wash as you usually do then slap this on and after a second I rinse off and get dressed as usual no more waiting for moisturiser to sink in before dressing. Smells like the normal nivea scent. It leave my skin feeling soft and not sticky. This is even better than a traditional body lotion in my opinion.
4.Pintail comb (R39.95)
Nice comb for parting and detangling hair. Say goodbye to skew partings with this nifty trusted tool. This one is exclusively available at the rubybox boutique.
5.rubybox hair organza wrap (R39.95)
Love this. Can’t have enough headbands. This one looks very stylish and holds the hair back nicely . The multiple strands let’s you get creative with your hair.
6.R400 off Gary Rom voucher
Will be using this soon after winter. This is a great hair dressing salon.
So if you want to #surpriseyourself with these type of beauty treats you can sign up at http://bit.ly/1ao5VSz There is an amazing promotion to get your first box at ONLY 99 cents I doubt you can buy anything for that price these days and nice if you want to try out the rubybox experience.

Karl announced back in October 2012 that he was cutting ties with Coty and embarking on a new fragrance venture with Inter Parfums SA.
“When lavender is too basic, I don’t like it, Especially in the modern world, there has to be a kind of sophistication and not too much of a down-to-earth garden, flowery hot-house mood. That’s from the past. There has to be a sophisticated twist in the perfume; if not, the old ones are better. The important thing with a perfume is to be new when it comes out and [then] turn into a classic in your bathroom.” Lagerfeld
The new scents for men and women are based on Lagerfeld’s desire to create fragrances that echo his edgy style, while still feeling classic as can be seen by the design of the bottle. The women’s version uses notes of lemon, peach, roses, magnolias, plumeria, and ambery woody notes, while the men’s scent is centered around an aromatic fern with lavender, mandarin zest, apple, violet leaves, sandalwood, and an amber blend.
KARL LAGERFELD FOR HER is a vibrant floral green fragrance with a fresh, metallic rose, electrified by lime and magnolia, illuminated by frangipani flower and softened by velvety peach, in a fabric of sensual musks oversewed by black ambery.
KARL LAGERFELD FOR HIM is a sensual masculine fougere aromatic, where lavender is enhanced by green violet and apple notes on an addictive, comfortable ambery woody dry-down and cold spicy notes of a race vibrant character.
You can pick these up for Ladies 25ml EDP for R495; 45ml EDP for R695 and 85ml EDP for R995. Mens’ 50ml EDT for R695 and 100ml EDT for R895.
