Review: Valentino beauty born in Roma intense Donna and Uomo

Valentino Born in Roma Intense is the newest release from Valentino which is a more intense version of the original Born in Roma. Said to push the signatures into a warmer more sensual register in a resolutely haute couture spirit. It comes in a female (Donna) and accompanying male scent (Uomo) both which contain the main vanilla note.

The packaging:

The bottle is typical signature to the Valentino brand. The design being inspired by Roman architecture on city walls as a symbol of underlying strength.

The edgy modern goth looking rock-studded bottle is beautifully contrasted with black leather and vivid pink text and liquid. Screams punk but still romantic. The bottle also goes from black to pink as you go lower down the bottle.

The scent:

Valentino beauty born in Roma intense Donna

To express the energy of the warm Roman night.

Top notes: Vanilla bourbon

Heart: Trio Jasmine

Base notes: Benzoin resin (This ingredient I have never seen in a fragrance but Benzoin is a balsamic ingredient with a slight edge, like a smokey whiskey. Ceremonial-like incense, this almost cinnamon-scented note is ideal for adding a little edge to this fragrance)

The scent lasted all day and I would describe it as a smelling like fruity vanilla bomb. It smells sophisticated yet edgy.

RRP 30 ml: €83

RRP 50 ml: €115

RRP 100ml: €153

Valentino beauty born in Roma intense Uomo

The contrast between freshness and a darker sensuality creates a fragrance of instinct and rebellious elegance.

Top notes: Vanilla infusion

Heart: Lavandin

Base notes: Smoked Vetiver

The scent lasted all day and I would describe it as a smelling like a citrus vanilla as the vanilla is also dominant here. It smells sweet and sensual.

RRP 50 ml: €82

RRP 100ml: €113
