New Launches from YSL Beauty Couture Mini Clutch and Lash Clash Mascara in Electric Blue. Makeup Trends and Tips from by Yves Saint Laurent Beaute European Make-up Artist Fred Letailleur

A while back we were spoilt with a special visit from Yves Saint Laurent Beaute European Make-up Artist Fred Letailleur to take us through all the new releases from YSL beauty as well as take us through a tutorial of a trending makeup trend and as always some makeup tips.

We are absolutely spoilt this time around with 2 new releases the YSL Couture Mini Clutch eye shadow palette as well as the beloved Lash Clash mascara in a new statement shade called electric blue.

YSL Couture Mini Clutch eye shadow palette

Remember when we were wowed by the ever beautiful couture clutch. Full review can be found here. This time around YSL have created 8 mini versions which is more compact. It is very travel friendly as it contains a large mirror and 2 applicator brushes. The eyeshadow can also be used as a blush as recommended by Fred. All the shades in each of the palettes work in harmony to create a perfect smoky eye. The palettes are structured in such a way if you work in a reverse C shape from the inner to outer corner of the eye. There are 6 nude tones and 2 bolder shades.

Each eyeshadow as always is high pigment (I have only swatched and applied 1 layer and I didn’t feel the need to have to build it to see colour) , feather light weight (I forget I have it on it is so light weight) and lasts all day. Not to forget the added skincare benefits each YSL product has this one with coffee seed oil, sweet almond oil and fig cactus oil sourced from the YSL Beaute Ourika Community Gardens. The formula is ultra-soft so colour glides on smoothly, blends like a dream.

The range draws inspiration from the places and passions that Mr Yves Saint Laurent held close to his heart. Inspired by the streets that moved the couturier himself.

YSL Lash Clash in Electric Blue

Since Lash Clash launched in 2022 it has been hugely successful dubbed as YSL beaute’s biggest game changing mascara. Recently a brown was added and now YSL have pushed the boundaries with this electric blue statement shade. Let me tell you the reaction in room when Fred pulled this wand out, all I could was a room full of ‘Wows’.

In usual YSL fashion the packaging of all items is simple yet sophisticated embellished with the gorgeous gold signature YSL logo.

Skincare benefits wise this contains Iris extract sourced from YSL Beaute Ourika Community Gardens which nourishes the lashes.

The formula is the thickest texture ever formulated and I can attest the thickest I have ever seen in all the 100s of mascaras I have tried in my life. The texture is still creamy and very pigmented this is why it adds up to 200% volume instantly. It is also smudge resistant and lasts 24 hours.

The oversized brush ensures that every lash is coated. The brush is also conical shaped creates a lifting effect on the outer corner of the eye and you can get the benefits of both worlds with the wider brush as well as the thinner part to catch the shorter lashes. Fred recommends a zig zag motion to apply the mascara.

Barbie (hyper femininity) Trend

During the master class Fred demonstrated this trend to us which was the most perfect way to use all the new products.

First prepping the face with YSL TOUCHE ÉCLAT BLUR PRIMER then my favorite foundation of all time the YSL ALL HOURS FOUNDATION.

The onto the lids he used YSL #400 BABYLONE ROSES. Pink Burgundy (darkest shade) on the inner part of the eye, dusty pink on the outer part of the eye as well as lower lash line and rose quartz on the centre of the lid for dimension

He the applied the YSL ELECTRIC BLUE LASH CLASH MASCARA to create a play on masculine vs femininity.

Then he applied a mix of the rose quartz and dusty pink as a blush and highlighter.

He then did some highlighting with the YSL TOUCHE ÉCLAT ILLUMINATING PEN and showed us some tips on where and how to apply. He emphasized that it is not a concealer but more or a illuminator. I love to apply this in the inner and outer corner of my eye and blend.

For the lips he used ROUGE PUR COUTURE THE SLIM – 21 Rouge Paradoxe a true red matte lipstick. I was actually impressed at how light weight and none drying this was.

Finally then finishing off with the YSL NU DEWY MIST in a hashtag shape. It is a dewy mist and not a setting spray. It is refreshing, hydrating and not sticky. It contains a bi-phase formula technology with 7% oily phase. With 93% hydrating essence enriched with plant-based glycerin and hyaluronic acid. 7% oily phase enriched with jojoba and pomegranate oil. Formula encapsulated in ultra-fine droplets. Brings immediately a dewy, juicy bare skin look. The magic ingredients are the potent natural Pomegranate oily extract from our YSL Ourika Community Gardens and Hyaluronic Acid. Skin is plumped on the long term. Skin appears radiant and refined over time.
