The packaging:
Just like YSL clothing and accessories the packaging of their makeup is just as luxe and beautiful and we would expect nothing less. The design looks like a gorgeous gold clutch. The detailing on the top is quilted faux leather with the iconic YSL logo that would be found on their bags and wallets. The palette itself is very sturdy and has a firm magnetic seal that keeps it closed. It contains a really large mirror and again the attention to detail with the ysl logo is engraved on this and the eye shadow tray. The size of each of the eye shadows is really large so I can see this lasting for ages.
The formula:
The colours were inspired by the deserts of Morocco contains 6 satin matte shades and 4 ultra-shimmery shades. Each of these colours in the palette can work really well together so the combinations of these are endless. The white shimmer and gold shimmer especially can be used to top any of the looks and there are 2 really nude shades and other more dramatic shades. In the first I did a matte brown smoky eye this would be perfect for an daytime look and then the second I did a pink smoky eye which would be great for night time.
All the colours are buttery soft and whilst it is not the most pigmented eye shadows I have worked with it does give a decent amount of colour. Very blendable, long lasting and the colour is buildable. A plus is the colours work well to be used as a bronzer, highlighter or blusher as well so you could easily just haul this palette around to do your entire face.
