To be bold this is my new favourite all time foundation. There is just nothing like it. A while back I had the honour of meeting and being shade matched by Yves Saint Laurent Beaute European Make-up Artist Fred Letailleur. Keep reading on to see why it’s so amazing…
Packaging: The packaging of YSL is always wow. With its signature straight cut lines and gold YSL logo featured in a matte glass bottle to resemble the finish on the skin. Comes in a pump bottle so very mess free and delivers the exact amount you would need.
Formula: Described as a 77% skincare infused foundation it actually treats the skin long after the product has been taken off. The first ingredient is Jasmine grown from YSL’s own Ourika community garden which helps to protect against free-radical and strengthen the skin barrier. Hyaluronic acid to stimulate skin and fight dullness. My skin feels softer, smoother and hydrated.
Comes in 40 Shades which were formulated by cutting edge technology and a spectrophotometer to suit every skin tone. The colour system itself is actually really simple once you understand it: YSL All Hours Foundation’s new 3 letter shade naming system for better shade finding:
1st digit represents your skintone, Light (L)/Medium (M)/Deep (D)
2nd digit represents your skin undertone. Cool (C): Your skin has hints of pink, blue or purple tones. Neutral (N): Your skin has a mixture of both warm and cool tones, or you find it difficult to determine. Warm (W): Your skin has hints of peach or yellow tones.
3rd digit represents shade intensity from 1 – 10.
Contains an SPF 39 so you are covered for sun protection as well as this is a decent amount in a foundation.
Wear: My favourite part of this is the wear it literally feels just like skin so much so that I keep forgetting I have anything on. The main reason I have steered away from daily foundation wearing is because I never liked the feeling of having a mask on and this is an absolute game changer. The foundation is light and liquidy and when you first apply it it does sort of just sit on the skin but give it a minute and it actually kind of absorbs into the skin, it is what YSL refers to as their skin fusing technology. The coverage is described as luminous matte finish and that is exactly what it is exactly like skin not too oily looking and not too dry looking.
It delivers high coverage and evens out the complexion, 1 layer was enough for me. It Is transfer proof, sweat proof, sport proof and lasts 24 hours. By the end of my 13 hour day I still had good even skin.
You can find these beauties in Brown Thomas, Arnotts and Boots (online) for RRP €45. Definitely recommend you go in and get colour matched and try get your hands on a sample to try it for yourself.
